Why women are angry and how to let it out
In this Q&A with Jennifer Cox, psychotherapist and author of the The Times self-help book of the year 2024 Women are Angry: Why Your Rage is Hiding and How to Let it Out, we explored anger.

Jennifer started by answering these three questions:
- Anonymous: I feel like I bottle up a lot of my frustrations with work, life and parenthood and take them all out on my husband who gets the brunt of my anger. At work I think I’m seen as pretty upbeat and calm but I’d appreciate any advice on how to make sure I channel my annoyances more effectively, especially those from work which I bring home.
- Jo asks: How can women address the double standards issue at work i.e. we are still told we need to be more confrontational, but if we are, we are taken to task for it. It’s the classic: Why can’t a woman be more like a man? Criticism that I still hear aired (although obviously not in these words).
- Cat asks: I know I’m not in the best mindset at the moment – I’m frustrated at work, resentful of my partner, snappy with my kids… And it shows. But I don’t know how to get out of it…. Any advice please?
